Elind Sports Communications is a strategic communications advisory founded by Mark Ward. We help sports organisations, rights holders, investors and major events use communications to deliver strategic goals, protect value and build the stakeholder alignment that growth and governance depend on.
For more than 20 years we have worked at the sharp end of sport, advising boards, CEOs and senior leadership teams in some of the most complex, high-scrutiny environments in the industry. My experience spans UEFA, ECB, Tottenham Hotspur, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Premiership Rugby, the Asian Football Confederation, FIFPRO and Baku 2015 and 2017.
Elind was founded because we saw a consistent pattern across those organisations. The ones that treated communications as a strategic function rather than a support service performed better. They attracted stronger commercial partners, maintained public trust through difficult periods, built better relationships with governments and regulators and were more resilient when things went wrong. The ones that treated it as an afterthought spent most of their time firefighting.
That insight shapes everything we do. We do not offer communications as a bolt-on service. We work at the point where strategy, reputation and execution meet, and we help our clients use communications to drive outcomes rather than simply describe them.

Most communications agencies work from the outside. They receive a brief, build a campaign and deliver it. Our model is different. We work as a trusted adviser to leadership teams, contributing to strategic thinking before it becomes public, helping organisations navigate complexity in real time and building the internal capability that makes communications genuinely strategic over the long term.
That means we work with a small number of clients at any one time. It is how we maintain the quality of advice and the depth of engagement that the work requires.
Our work covers three overlapping groups.
Sports organisations and governing bodies, including international federations, national associations, leagues and clubs, that need to align stakeholders, strengthen reputation and use communications to support growth, governance and change.
Local Organising Committees hosting major events, from bid through to legacy, where the communications and stakeholder challenge is as significant as the operational one.
Investment firms and portfolio businesses active in sport, where reputational and stakeholder risk can affect returns and where the right narrative strategy is part of how enterprise value is protected and grown.

At Elind Sports Communications, we believe that sports have the unique power to inspire, unite, and create lasting change.
Yet, behind every great sporting moment lies a story that needs to be told the right way.
We founded Elind because we saw a gap in how sports organisations communicate their messages to stakeholders — fans, sponsors, media, and communities. Our goal is to fill that gap by crafting strategic communications campaigns that resonate with audiences and inspire action.
We are passionate about ensuring that every story, event, and initiative in sports gets the attention it deserves.
Whether it's a grassroots community project or an international sporting event, we’re here to amplify those voices and create meaningful impact.
We measure success by the impact our strategic communications plans have on your organisation’s goals. For us, success isn’t just about crafting compelling messages — it’s about seeing those messages drive engagement, foster stronger relationships, and deliver measurable business results.
Our criteria for success include:
We work closely with you to set clear KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and track progress throughout the journey, ensuring that our approach remains agile, effective, and results driven.
